My Story
I became the father of my first child at 50. Yep! You got it. 50. 1st time Dad. AND I LOVE IT!!! The one challenge that pulled at me, was the lack of flexibility to be able to spend the time with my daughter the way I wanted. At 50, the desire to maximize my moments with her was big. As a high school teacher and coach of 25 years, a career I loved, my time was controlled by someone else’s schedule. Yes, teachers get a lot of time off, but at someone else’s choosing. I wanted to control my time so I could be with my daughter when I wanted; morning breakfast and school drop off, bus pick-up, homework time after school, field trip chaperone, volunteer at school. This lead me on a quest to find a way to blend my desire to have “time flexibility with my daughter” and have a profession that still provides all the parts of coaching and teaching that I love so much.
The quest led me to my career as a Life Coach.
Finding life coaching has been the perfect fit for me. When I was teaching and coaching at the high school level, it was never about the content or the competition that was most important to me. It was helping students or athletes develop skills that would help them accomplish their goals. What I realized was the part that I enjoyed the most was when I saw students or athletes navigate challenges or obstacles using life skills they picked up in the classroom or practice. I love helping people find the answers inside themselves, that help them have the life they truly desire. Now I can design my schedule to fit my lifestyle AND keep teaching and coaching, just in a different classroom.
When I was talking with a former student-athlete of mine, sharing with him my new venture, he said, “Coach, you have been doing this for years. You were definitely a life coach for me.” This was my greatest validation that I had found the perfect fit.
As your coach, I will help you create the life you want to live. I will help you add clarity to your “purpose”. My job is to coach you through what you are already capable of having.
